Ryan Strachan is the new president of Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).
Strachan, a stockbroker by profession, was elected G2K president at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting held on Sunday at the JLP Headquarters.
He will replace Stephen Edwards who, after serving as president of the JLP affiliate for three years, had indicated that he would not seek re-election.
Strachan previously served the organisation in the roles of policy committee chairman and vice president.
“I am grateful to past president Edwards for his support and guidance along my political journey. The tremendous work and sacrifice that all alumni of G2K have given, has paved the way for me to serve,” said Strachan, adding “I am therefore fully cognisant of the enormous responsibility that I am now assuming and look forward to the working with everyone in building the new Jamaica.”
Strachan went on to thank the members of Generation 2000 and the Jamaica Labour Party for their trust and support. Generation 2000 will now focus its efforts towards the Jamaica Labour Party’s Annual Conference.
